Purchases made on the Georgia Lottery's website or with a registered iHOPEcard at retail locations: For prizes up to and including $5,000 won from purchases made on the GA Lottery's website, winners will not need to complete a claim for as the prize will be automatically deposited to the player's iHOPEcard account.
The Official Georgia Lottery was created in November 1992 by the people of Georgia to enhance educational funding. The Lottery for Education Act created the Georgia Lottery Corporation (GLC) to oversee and operate the lottery. In Fiscal Year 2015, the Georgia Lottery remitted $13.9 million to the Georgia Department of Revenue in tax withholdings from lottery prizes. Additionally, the lottery collected $249,000 in state back taxes from prize winners.
More than 84,000 4-year-olds are currently receiving a jump start to their education in 3,828 Pre-K classrooms throughout the state. Georgia's Pre-K Program was funded with $314 million in lottery proceeds last year.
